Sortition Magic
Sortition Magic is a script in R for random selection of citizens’ assemblies that is based on the algorithm of simulated annealing. Instruction for how to use it is presented in the “ReadMe” file. If you need support in setting it up for your citizens’ assembly, please feel free to contact us. For more information, see the explainer: “Why Use Simulated Annealing?” or an in-depth study published in the Journal of Sortition: “Designing the Process of Random Selection of Citizens’ Assemblies“.

And here is a very cool version that works on the multiple cores of the CPU at the same time! It is called Sortition Magic Multicore. You can use it on laptops, clusters and supercomputers as well. It is especially useful when it comes to conducting a large number of draws – it simply works faster. Please note, however, that it is primarily for the advanced users, plus it is an older version of the method.
